Ata Rangi Kotinga Pinot Noir 2021

Ata Rangi Kotinga Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Martinborough Pinot made entirely from Dijon clones.

Alongside its famous estate blend, the Martinborough pioneer has been releasing wines from individual vineyards to show how site shapes Pinot Noir across the district's gravel terraces. The 2021 is only the second release from this site. It is built solely from the Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777, which tend to give bright fruit and fine structure, and the winery describes it as a high-energy wine. Cherry, red currant and plum stone lead the nose, and the palate opens with supple tannins and flowing acidity, finishing with grapefruit and juniper notes.

Decant for half an hour and serve at around 15 to 17 degrees. It pairs well with roast duck, venison, beef carpaccio or a wild mushroom tart. Drinking well now and should hold for several years.
