Ata Rangi McCrone Pinot Noir 2019

Ata Rangi McCrone Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Martinborough Pinot released with some age already in bottle.

The McCrone vineyard is one of the individual sites that the winery has worked with near Martinborough, and its wine is bottled separately to capture that site's character. The winery holds this wine back and cellars it before release, which has softened the tannins and added length. The 2019 opens with rose petal, sweet raspberry and spice. The palate is bold and juicy, mixing primary fruit with herbal and iron ore notes, a brooding, savoury edge, and supple tannins that carry a long finish.

Drinking beautifully now, it will hold for several more years. Serve at around 16 degrees with roast lamb, venison, beef bourguignon or aged hard cheeses, and give it time in the glass.
