Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 375ml 2020

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir in a 375ml half bottle is the estate's signature Martinborough Pinot, here from the 2020 vintage.

Planted in 1980 on a stony stretch of the Martinborough Terrace, the vineyard is one of the oldest in the Wairarapa, and its Pinot Noir is widely regarded as one of New Zealand's classics. Low rainfall, gravelly soils and strong winds give small, concentrated berries. This 2020 now has a few years of age, and offers juniper, cranberry and red plum with notes of cardamom, pink peppercorn and dried oregano. The palate is bright and supple, with fine tannins that run the full length.

Half bottles mature a little faster than full bottles, so this is ready to enjoy now. Serve at about 15 to 16 degrees with a steak for one, lamb cutlets or a plate of good cheese.
