Ata Rangi Pinot Noir Museum Release is a library release of the estate's flagship, held back at the winery to show how the wine develops with age.

Museum releases are a rare chance to buy a mature bottle straight from the producer's own cellar, with impeccable provenance. The winery has made Pinot Noir in Martinborough since the early 1980s, and its estate wine has a long history of ageing gracefully. The 2020 has a full, fragrant nose of juniper, cranberry and red plum, with cardamom, pink peppercorn and dried oregano. It is bright and supple on entry, with finely coating tannins through the length of the palate, and the winery sees it as a touchstone for its single-vineyard releases.

Give it a gentle decant to separate any sediment and let the aromas open. Serve at around 16 degrees with roast game birds, venison loin or a mushroom and truffle dish.
