Description
Azores Wine Company Arinto dos Açores is a striking Atlantic white grown on the volcanic soils of the Azores archipelago, one of the world's most extreme and dramatic wine-growing environments.
Founded by winemaker António Maçanita together with local partners, Azores Wine Company farms small, walled vineyard plots known as currais on the island of Pico and its surrounds, where black basalt stone walls shelter low-trained vines from relentless Atlantic winds. The indigenous Arinto dos Açores grape thrives in these conditions, and the islands' volcanic soils, ocean influence and centuries-old currais system give the wine a distinctive salinity and mineral tension that sets it apart from mainland Portuguese whites.
Zesty and saline, this is a vivid, food-friendly white ideal for seafood and for those drawn to distinctive, terroir-driven wines.
