Description

Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Blanc Côte d'Or is a regional white sourced almost entirely from vines inside the Puligny and Chassagne communes.

The Bourgogne Côte d'Or appellation was created to distinguish regional wine grown on the slope itself from fruit drawn more widely across Burgundy, and it suits a domaine like Bachelet-Monnot, whose base is at Dezize-lès-Maranges but whose holdings run north into the great white wine villages. This cuvée comes from 1.3 hectares of twenty to fifty-year-old vines spread across four parcels in the Puligny area, plus a plot of younger Chassagne vines on chalky soil. Brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet farm carefully, pick on judgement rather than schedule, and keep cellar intervention to a minimum, which is why this bottling is regularly held up as one of the better regional whites in Burgundy. The 2023 was matured for eighteen months with 20 per cent new oak.

Drinking well now and holding four to six years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled flathead, chicken terrine or a goat's cheese tart.
