Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru Les Clos Roussots is made from the continuation of Santenay's Clos Rousseau, bottled separately only since 2022.

Les Clos Roussots — Russots is an alternative spelling, pronounced the same way — runs on from Santenay's Clos Rousseau across the Maranges boundary, where a band of hard limestone lies beneath brown marl soils. The Bachelet family has owned vines here for decades, but the parcel was too small to vinify on its own and the fruit went into the village wine. A fermage agreement from 2022 took the surface they farm to a little over half a hectare, enough for a single cuvée, and this is only their second release from the site. Winemaking follows the pattern of the domaine's other reds: spontaneous fermentation, whole-bunch use decided parcel by parcel and ageing in barrel with little new oak. The wine is wildly perfumed, pulpy and seductive on the palate while staying firmly red-fruited.

Approachable from release and good for six to eight years, with roast pigeon, veal or a mature Tomme. Serve at 16–18°C.
