Bannockburn 1314 Pinot Noir 2025

Bannockburn 1314 Pinot Noir is a fragrant, estate-grown Pinot Noir from Geelong.

Fifteen per cent whole bunches and fifteen per cent new oak: the numbers are lower this year and the wine is the more transparent for it. Fruit comes from the full range of the estate's organically farmed Pinot blocks, planted in 1976, 1997 and 2004 to MV6, 114 and 115, always including a good share from the iconic close-planted parcels. This is a barrel selection made with freshness in mind, matured seven months in hogsheads. Delivering Pinot Noir this accomplished and this clearly tied to its site at this price is rare, and it is the sort of thing the estate has been doing quietly for fifty years.

Spicy, subtly earthy and floral, with succulent raspberry and red berry fruit and slinky tannins. Unmistakably Bannockburn. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees after twenty minutes in the fridge. Good with roast chicken, duck liver pâté, grilled salmon, or a mushroom and taleggio pizza.
