Description
Bannockburn Chardonnay 1.5L MAGNUM is a magnum of estate Chardonnay from the property's earliest harvest on record.
A warm, dry season and a compressed picking window produced wines of generosity and clarity here, and 2025 was the earliest harvest the estate has recorded. The blend draws on plantings spanning 1976 to 2016, taking in Olive Tree Hill, the Winery Block, Stuart Block, Grigsby and Kelly Lane, with clonal material P58 and Bernard 76, 95 and 96. Handpicked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented in French hogsheads and puncheons, a quarter of them new, with seventy per cent through malolactic and ten months on lees without stirring. In magnum the wine will hold its shape for a long while yet.
Ripe stone fruit, grapefruit and pear carried on bright acidity to a long, composed finish with tension and purity intact. Serve at 11 to 12 degrees. With six glasses on the table, put it next to roast chicken, a tray of baked fish, or a board of hard cheeses.
