Bannockburn De La Terre Pinot Noir 2025

Bannockburn De La Terre Pinot Noir is a high-density single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Geelong’s Moorabool Valley.

The block splits in two — a flat top with north-south rows, and a sloping section running east-west — which is part of why it reads so differently from Serré on the plateau directly above. Planted in 2007 at 8,333 vines to the hectare, predominantly clone 777 with a portion of 114, it crops at levels Burgundy would recognise from its Grand Crus. Fruit came in by hand in 2025 to open-top fermenters, with whole clusters layered through, thirteen days on skins, then French oak hogsheads with 30 per cent new. High-density planting brings concentration as detail and texture, not weight.

High-toned and filigreed, with dried herbs, incense, red cherry, orange rind and a bitter Campari edge, closing on fine tannin and a mineral finish. Serve at 14 to 16 degrees. Duck, game birds, or mushrooms with farro.
