Bannockburn Olive Tree Hill Pinot Noir 2025

Bannockburn Olive Tree Hill Pinot Noir is a single-block Pinot Noir from own-rooted vines planted in 1976.

Ripening comes late on this slope, later than anywhere else on the property, and the berries stay small — which is the whole reason the block now gets bottled on its own instead of disappearing into the estate blend. The vines are own-rooted MV6, put in by founder Stuart Hooper next to the Chardonnay rows that make S.R.H., and they are nearing their fiftieth vintage. Winemaking across the single-vineyard Pinots barely varies from one to the next, so what you taste are the true colours of each parcel: this is the darkest and most structured of them.

Deep and calm, moving between red and black fruit with earthy spice and mulch beneath, all carried by a regal, slow-building structure. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees with plenty of air. Roast duck, beef cheek, or a mushroom pie.
