Bannockburn Pinot Noir 1.5L MAGNUM 2024

Bannockburn Pinot Noir in 1.5-litre magnum is the estate’s Geelong Pinot Noir in large format.

The close-planted De La Terre block, planted in 2007, is the part that lifts this blend, sitting on top of fruit from Olive Tree Hill (1976), 10 Rows (1991), Stuart Block (1997) and Anns Block (2004). Volcanic loam and dark clay over a limestone base underpins every site, planted mainly to MV6 with Dijon clones filling in. Blocks fermented separately with around 20 per cent bunches and a carbonic portion, then went to hogsheads and puncheons, a quarter of them new, for ten months. A magnum of it will sit happily in the cellar for years.

It lifts straight out of the glass: flowers, spice, earth, a wisp of reduction and brambly berries, framed by fine tannin and keen acidity. Give it plenty of air at 15 degrees. Roast duck is the match.
