Bannockburn Riesling 2024

Bannockburn Riesling is a dry Riesling grown on ancient limestone at the top of the estate’s original vineyard.

Riesling was among the first varieties planted at Olive Tree Hill in 1976, and most of the fruit still comes from that single acre of own-rooted, low-yielding vines at the top of the north-facing slope, with 0.6 acres of 2015 plantings alongside. The roots run deep into ancient limestone, and this variety is unusually good at reporting back on that kind of ground. Fruit was picked with flavour ripe and natural acidity intact, pressed as bunches to steel tank, then given three months on lees. Only a touch of sulphur was added.

Fragrant and finely drawn, and dry to the last drop, with citrus, white florals, crisp fruit and a mouthwatering chalky finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. Try it with oysters, cured trout, or a green mango salad.
