Bannockburn Riesling 2025

Bannockburn Riesling is a dry Moorabool Valley Riesling from own-rooted vines at the top of the slope.

One acre does most of the work here: original 1976 vines, own-rooted and now cropping lightly, sitting at the head of the property’s north-facing slope, with a smaller 0.6-acre parcel from 2015 in support. Beneath them is ancient limestone rock, and few varieties report the ground they grow on as faithfully as this one. Fruit came in with flavour ripe and acidity still high, was pressed as whole bunches to stainless steel, and rested three months on lees. Additions stopped at a touch of sulphur, as they have for several vintages now.

Bright and detailed, with citrus and white flowers, crisp dry fruit and a chalky, mouthwatering close. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. Rock oysters, kingfish crudo, or a bowl of laksa all work well with it.
