Battle of Bosworth Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Battle of Bosworth Cabernet Sauvignon is a firm, full-bodied red grown organically on the Bosworth family's own vines at Willunga in McLaren Vale.

Willunga sits in the southern foothills of the Vale, and in summer the afternoon breeze off Gulf St Vincent takes the edge off the heat. Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith farm without herbicides, which is why yellow soursob flowers, a weed that loves an unsprayed vineyard, turn up on the labels. This one comes from estate vines and spends time in oak to soften its tannins before bottling.

Expect blackcurrant with a savoury edge, and tannins that are firm but ripe. It's enjoyable now with a decant, and there are a few more years in it yet. Pour at 16–18°C with slow-roasted lamb, beef ribs or a hard cheese.
