Beautiful Isle Syrah Noir 2024

Beautiful Isle Syrah Noir is a peppery, cool-climate Syrah from Deviot in Tasmania's Tamar Valley.

Syrah from a cool site like this is a very different animal to warm-climate Shiraz: peppery, finer in tannin, lighter and more savoury. The fruit comes from sloping vineyards on the western bank of the river, where the estuary moderates frost. Oak plays a supporting role so the perfume and freshness stay intact.

Dark cherry, spice and fine, savoury tannins in a medium-bodied frame. Pour it at 16–18°C with lamb, venison, grilled mushrooms or roast duck. It's lighter on its feet than you might expect.
