Benjamin Leroux Blagny 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois is a red Pinot Noir from the highest premier cru of the Meursault-Blagny hamlet, farmed biodynamically.

Blagny is the appellation used for red wine grown in the hamlet above Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet; the whites from the same slopes carry those better-known village names, so only the Pinot Noir can be labelled Blagny. La Pièce Sous Le Bois is its highest premier cru, a limestone-rich, high-altitude terroir that Leroux has championed for years, first for its whites and increasingly for its underappreciated reds. He owns two parcels here, one planted to Chardonnay in 1953 and a second to Pinot Noir, which he first vinified in 2014 before securing an estate parcel in 2017. Warmer, drier seasons have suited the cool, rocky site. The vineyard is certified biodynamic, and no new oak or whole bunches are used for this red.

Fresh and open early, with five to eight years of development ahead; serve at 16°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom tart.
