Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Blanc 2024

Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Blanc is a white Burgundy drawn almost entirely from estate vines in Meursault.

Most wine at this appellation level comes off flat land at the foot of the slope, across the D974. These vines do not: Les Millerands, Sous la Velle and Les Belles Côtes all sit on the lower slopes of the Côte, below the village-level Meursault parcels but on the upper side of the road, which is a meaningful difference in drainage and ripening. Maturation was split three ways, half in large oak, a quarter in glass Winglobe vessels and a quarter in used barrique. Put a village name on the label and nobody would question it.

Straightforward in the best way: citrus and orchard fruit with a nutty, leesy undertone and a clean, saline close. Serve at 12 to 13 degrees. Roast chicken, grilled prawns, or a simple omelette with soft herbs, and it is a fine glass on its own.
