Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge 2024

Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge is a Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir at Bourgogne level.

The blend leans on two long-standing sources, Maison Dieu in Pommard and Mon Poulain in Volnay, with some Monthelie village fruit now adding freshness. Ageing took place in a large Grenier oak cask alongside several smaller barrels, which keeps the wood in the background where it belongs at this level. 2024 was a season that suited the Côte de Beaune for Pinot Noir, and Leroux, working out of Beaune since 2007, has always treated his entry-level reds as wines to be judged on their own terms and not as offcuts from grander bottlings.

Bourgogne pricing, Cote de Beaune character. Light-footed and juicy, with red cherry, rose and a touch of undergrowth, fine tannin and brisk acidity. Serve slightly cool, 14 to 15 degrees. Roast chicken, charcuterie, or mushrooms on toast.
