Description
Benjamin Leroux Chambolle-Musigny is a village wine blended from Les Athets and Les Chardannes, with a barrel of premier cru included.
Chambolle-Musigny is the most delicately framed of the Côte de Nuits communes, its wines built on perfume and fine tannin rather than power, a character usually attributed to the thin, active limestone soils of the slope. The two lieux-dits Leroux works here sit at the base of the Chambolle hill on clay, silt and limestone, ground that gives a rounder and more immediately generous wine than the stonier sites higher up. The blend in 2023 is much as it was the previous year, with the addition of one barrel of premier cru. Vinification used roughly 30 per cent whole bunches and about 20 per cent new oak, a light enough hand to keep the village's floral signature intact.
Pretty and juicy from release, it will drink well for six to eight years alongside roast chicken, duck or mushroom risotto. Serve at 16 to 18°C.
