Description
Benjamin Leroux Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers comes from 40-year-old Pinot Fin vines worked biodynamically in one of the village's three finest premiers crus.
Les Cazetiers is ranked alongside Clos Saint-Jacques and Lavaux Saint-Jacques at the top of the Gevrey premiers crus. The vineyard covers 8.43 hectares on the steep slope directly above the village, flanked by Clos Saint-Jacques on one side and Combe aux Moines on the other. Good Cazetiers is known for refinement and precision rather than sheer power. Leroux's plot sits mid-slope and is planted with 40-year-old Pinot Fin, a small-berried selection; the vines have been farmed biodynamically for several years. The 2023 was fermented with two-thirds whole bunches and went initially into a new barrel before being racked into an older one, so the oak signature stays light.
Best from four to fifteen years; serve with roast game, beef or hard cheese at 16-18°C.
