Benjamin Leroux Grand Cru Chambertin 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Benjamin Leroux Chambertin is a grand cru red from a parcel of old, biodynamically farmed vines in the heart of the vineyard, bottled in magnum.

Chambertin is the vineyard that gave Gevrey-Chambertin the second half of its name, a thirteen-hectare grand cru on the mid-slope known for structure and long ageing rather than early charm. Benjamin Leroux buys fruit from a parcel of old vines farmed biodynamically in the centre of the site, which is where the vineyard is at its most complete. Only two barrels were made in this vintage, and the wine was vinified with 80 per cent whole bunches, a high proportion even by Leroux's standards and one the concentration of the fruit can carry. The magnums are sealed with natural cork. Australia's allocation is limited to six magnums, so this is among the rarest wines in the range.

A wine for the long term that will reward a decade or more; serve at 16–18°C with roast beef, venison or a mature washed-rind cheese.
