Benjamin Leroux Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois is drawn from certified biodynamic old vines on the highest and rockiest terroir he farms.

Blagny is a hamlet high on the hill between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet; its white wines are sold under the Meursault-Blagny premier cru heading, while the reds carry the Blagny appellation. La Pièce Sous Le Bois runs along the woodline at 320 to 350 metres, which brings bitterly cold winters, a later harvest and plenty of summer sun on the slope. Leroux works 1.5 of the 2.2 hectares of Chardonnay in the vineyard, with vines averaging around fifty years of age, and the parcel is certified biodynamic. He has described the site as having something of the character of Saint-Aubin. Several vessels were used for this release, including a glass WineGlobe and a new egg-shaped foudre alongside conventional cask.

Taut in youth, it is better from three or four years and will keep well beyond that; try it with grilled fish, roast pork or goat's cheese. Serve at 10 to 12°C.
