Benjamin Leroux Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois Cuvée 1950 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

This is a 1.5-litre magnum of Benjamin Leroux's Meursault-Blagny premier cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois, released as a special cuvée.

Blagny is the hamlet on the wooded hill above Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, and whites grown on its Meursault side are sold as Meursault-Blagny. La Pièce Sous Le Bois is the largest of the premiers crus there, sitting at 320 to 350 metres on thin, stony ground at the edge of the forest. The altitude brings cold winters and a long, late ripening season, though the site catches plenty of summer sun, and it has become a more valuable position as the region warms. Leroux works the majority of the Chardonnay planted in the vineyard, with vines averaging 50 years of age, and handles the wine with restraint so the rocky, spicy character of the site stays in front.

Worth five to ten years in the cellar; serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast veal or a mature comté.
