Benjamin Leroux Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Hauts Jarrons 2024

Benjamin Leroux Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Hauts Jarrons is a Pinot Noir from the east-facing slope on the Beaune side of the village.

These vines belong to a close friend of Leroux, planted in the heart of the cru on the Beaune side of the valley, the sector that tends to give Savigny's most elegant wines. Clay and limestone, as across most of the Côte d'Or, but the clay here is light and sandy, so there is more flesh than the village bottling carries and finer detail with it. Yields were very low in 2024, which pushed ripeness up and concentrated the fruit. Savigny remains one of the last corners of the Côte de Beaune where 1er Cru is still honestly priced.

Bright red cherry and raspberry over a supple, finely drawn palate, good to go now and better in three or four years. Serve at 16 degrees. Roast quail, duck rillettes, or a cheese board leaning towards soft rinds.
