Bernard Métrat Fleurie La Roilette vieilles vignes 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Bernard Metrat Fleurie La Roilette vieilles vignes is an old-vine Gamay from the best known lieu-dit of Fleurie, in magnum.

La Roilette is a small sector on the eastern edge of Fleurie, pressed right against the Moulin-à-Vent boundary, and its soils carry more clay over the pink granite than the rest of the appellation. That combination gives wines with the perfume of Fleurie but the structure and grip usually associated with its neighbour, and growers here have long argued the parcel deserves its own name on the label. The Metrat family works old vines on the site, many of them well past fifty years, cropping at naturally low yields. Fruit is picked by hand and fermented whole bunch in the semi-carbonic manner of the region, then raised in tank and older wood before bottling.

Medium-bodied and firmer than most Fleurie, it takes roast pork, terrines and mushroom dishes; serve at around 15 degrees.
