Description
Bessin Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume comes from the best-known Premier Cru on the right bank of the Serein.
Fourchaume runs north from the Grand Cru slope on the same right-bank exposure, which is why it is generally held to be the most complete of the Chablis Premiers Crus, giving more flesh and depth than the left-bank climats while keeping the Kimmeridgian salinity. The domaine is based at La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, directly opposite the vineyard, and was built by Jean-Claude Bessin before his son-in-law Julien Tremblay joined him. The house style leans on tank and older wood rather than new oak.
Drink from two years and over the following decade. Serve at 10-12°C with scallops, roast chicken or a mild washed-rind cheese.
