Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1.5L MAGNUM 2019

Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva in magnum is a collector's bottling of one of Italy's longest-lived red wines.

Montalcino owes its reputation in large part to the Biondi Santi family, whose work with a single Sangiovese clone at the Greppo estate gave rise to Brunello. Their Riserva appears only when the season allows and is drawn from the property's most senior vines. Native-yeast fermentation is followed by long, slow maturation in sizeable Slavonian oak casks, a method that has changed little over the generations. In the larger 1.5 litre format the wine ages at a gentler pace, which suits a Riserva from a year as highly rated as 2019.

Lay it down in a cool, dark cellar and it should keep improving for decades. When the time comes, decant with care, serve at around 17 degrees, and bring out the best cut of beef or a rich game dish you can find.
