Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is the top wine of Tenuta Greppo, produced only in the finest vintages.

Riserva is not made every year at this estate. It is reserved for harvests the family judges exceptional, and the fruit comes from the oldest Sangiovese vines on the property. These low-yielding plants descend from the clone selected at Greppo in the 19th century, the origin of Brunello as a wine style. After fermentation the wine spends years in large Slavonian oak casks and further time in bottle before it is released, well beyond the minimum the appellation requires. The 2019 vintage was widely praised across Montalcino, and the estate describes its Riserva as precise and taut, with fine, well-integrated tannins.

This is a wine for patient cellaring, with the structure to evolve over many decades. If opening it young, decant several hours ahead and serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast beef, game birds or slow-braised oxtail.
