Blank Canvas Axehouse Vineyard Grüner Veltliner 2024

Blank Canvas Axehouse Vineyard Grüner Veltliner is a crisp, savoury single-vineyard Marlborough white made from Austria's signature grape.

This grape is still rare in Marlborough, but cool nights there suit it, keeping its peppery lift and fresh acidity intact. The fruit comes from an individual grower's site and is bottled on its own. Matt Thomson has made wine and consulted for decades, at home and in Italy, and with Sophie Parker-Thomson MW he keeps the winemaking careful and fairly hands-off.

Dry and textured, with citrus, green pepper and a mineral finish. It's an easy match for Vietnamese salads, schnitzel, asparagus or grilled white fish; serve at 8–10°C.
