Blank Canvas Settlement Vineyard Marlborough Pinot Noir 2021

Blank Canvas Settlement Vineyard Marlborough Pinot Noir is a silky, savoury single-vineyard Pinot Noir made by Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson.

Clay-rich soils on the southern slopes and valleys of the region are proving themselves with Pinot Noir, and wines from there show perfume and a fine build. The couple bring decades of experience from New Zealand and abroad, and they pick their sites one by one. For this bottling, extraction is kept gentle and the wine goes into French oak, leaving the fruit and the vineyard in front.

Expect perfume first, then a silky, savoury palate with fine tannins. Good with duck, salmon or mushroom risotto at 14–16°C. It's ready now and will develop over the next several years.
