Blank Canvas Upton Downs Vineyard Upper Awatere Pinot Noir is a savoury, fine-boned Pinot Noir from a single vineyard high in Marlborough.

Few parts of Marlborough sit higher or cooler than this valley, where wind and altitude hold yields down and give Pinot Noir fine tannins, fresh acidity and a distinctly savoury edge. The couple behind the label source from individual growers and keep each site's wine separate. In the cellar they stay fairly hands-off, with texture the priority.

Red cherry and spice with a firm, fresh line and plenty of perfume. Best at the table: serve at 14–16°C with duck breast, mushroom dishes, lamb or seared salmon.
