Bleasdale Vineyards The Wild Fig Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre is a medium-weight, savoury take on the classic southern Rhône trio.

Grown in Langhorne Creek, where river flats and lake breezes give soft, generous reds, this blend comes from the Potts family's historic winery, founded in 1850. Grenache brings lifted blueberry and cherry fruit, Shiraz adds depth and spice, and Mourvèdre contributes savoury, earthy notes. Wild thyme, star anise and clove weave through, and the wine finishes fine and chalky. Blends like this have deep roots in South Australia, where Grenache and Mourvèdre, long known locally as Mataro, have been grown since the 1800s.

Try it slightly cool, around 15 to 16 degrees, with lamb shoulder, grilled eggplant, merguez sausages or a Moroccan tagine.
