Blind Corner Quindalup Pinot Grigio Orange 2021

Blind Corner Quindalup Pinot Grigio Orange is a skin-fermented Pinot Grigio with a deep, almost red hue.

Pinot Grigio has pink-grey skins, and leave the juice in contact with them long enough and you get colour, which is exactly what happens here. This small run was hand-picked and fermented wild on skins for ten days, foot-crushed and hand-plunged throughout, then pressed to seasoned oak for three months to finish. The colour is unusually deep because the vines are young and the bunches tiny, so the ratio of skin to juice is high. It is a ramato in the Friulian tradition, made at the Goulds' biodynamic Quindalup vineyard in Margaret River.

Tannic for a white and closer to a light red in feel: dried apricot, red berry and orange peel, finishing grippy and dry. Serve at 13 degrees, cooler than you would a red. Charcuterie, roast pumpkin, or a hard cheese.
