Bodegas Alión Ribera del Duero Bodegas Alión is a modern styled Tinto Fino from the Álvarez family, the owners of Vega Sicilia.

Alión was created at the start of the 1990s as a separate estate in Ribera del Duero, near Peñafiel, with a brief quite distinct from that of its famous sibling. Where Vega Sicilia is defined by very long ageing in a mixture of vessels, Alión was conceived from the outset as a single wine made only from Tinto Fino, the local strain of Tempranillo, and matured entirely in French oak for a considerably shorter period. The vineyards sit high on the Duero plateau at around 700 metres, where hot days and cold nights stretch out the ripening season and the growing period is short but intense.

Decant an hour ahead and serve at 16 to 18 degrees with lamb, beef or hard sheep's cheese.
