Bondar Hope Springs Eternal Blewitt Springs Grenache is a structured Grenache from bush vines planted in 1952.

Wilpena is widely treated as a benchmark site for Australian Grenache: dry-grown bush vines at 200 metres, planted in 1952 into deep Maslin Sands, facing steeply east. That aspect is one Bondar actively looks for, since it takes the afternoon heat out of ripening. The vineyard gives power and a distinctive tannin profile along with darker fruit than most Grenache in the district. The parcel was split into two ferments, at 60 and 30 per cent whole bunches, and spent sixteen months in seasoned oak and a Vin de Terre ceramic amphora. The 2024 season was cool, with healthy yields off good spring soil moisture and a long dry run into harvest.

Tightly wound at this stage and worth holding: dark berry, dried herb and fine chalky tannin, with freshness carrying the length. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees, decanted. Lamb shoulder, game birds, or a hard sheep's cheese.
