Bondar Rosé 2026

Bondar Rosé is an estate-grown rosé of Grenache, Cinsault and Mataro from McLaren Vale.

Every grape comes off the Rayner vineyard this time, with no grower fruit in the blend: 83 per cent Grenache, the rest Cinsault and Mataro. The older Grenache vines are around 55 years old, on sand, with a small younger block in the mix. After the earliest vintage the estate has recorded, the following season swung back to a much later harvest — some early heat, then a mild, slow finish. Grenache and Cinsault fermented cool to hold primary fruit, while the Mataro fermented warmer on full solids in a ceramic amphora, which is where the texture comes from.

Fresh and layered, red fruit through the middle, chalky pithy grip, then a long watermelon-drenched finish. Best at 9 to 10 degrees. Try it with salt and pepper squid, chicken off the barbecue, or a plate of radishes and good butter.
