Description

Bonnaire Cramant Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is a vintage Champagne drawn entirely from Chardonnay grown in the family's home village.

Cramant is one of the grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, planted almost entirely to Chardonnay on a thin topsoil over deep chalk; its wines are typically rounder and more open than those of Le Mesnil to the south, without losing the saline finish common to the slope. The Bonnaire family settled in the village in the 1930s and farms a little over twenty hectares, the majority of it here. This cuvée is a single village wine, drawn only from Cramant fruit and made as a vintage blanc de blancs, held on lees in the cellars beneath the village for an extended period and disgorged extra brut at five grams per litre.

Dry and chalk driven with the breadth Cramant tends to give, it suits scallops, roast white fish and young hard cheese; serve at around ten degrees.
