Brokenwood Cricket Pitch Red 2023

Brokenwood Cricket Pitch Red is an easy-drinking blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Shiraz and Merlot rounding it out.

The Cricket Pitch wines are the everyday pair in the Brokenwood range, built by blending fruit from several of the company's vineyards and grower regions to deliver a consistent house style each year. In this vintage Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the majority, bringing leafy berry aromas and a firm frame, while Shiraz adds spice and plushness to the mid-palate and Merlot softens the edges. The colour is a lovely mid-depth with youthful tints. Fine, long tannins and a fresh acid line mean it will age well over the medium term, but it is made first and foremost to be opened and enjoyed.

A midweek favourite: serve at around 16 to 18 degrees alongside a burger, salami and olive pizza, or sausages straight off the barbecue.
