Brokenwood Hunter Valley Shiraz 2018

Brokenwood Hunter Valley Shiraz is a traditional medium-bodied red drawn from the winery's home region.

Where the Graveyard bottling reflects a single site, this wine captures the broader regional character that has defined Pokolbin reds for generations. Hunter Shiraz is prized for its red fruit, earthy spice and fine tannins, and for its ability to age gracefully in the bottle. Oak is kept very much in the background so the lifted red fruit and ginger spice of the 2018 lead the way, over a superb dark red and purple colour. The palate has a soft entry, fine tannins and well-judged acidity carrying through to the finish. It gives drinking pleasure now and will keep developing over the long term.

With some bottle age behind it, this is moving into a lovely drinking window. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, osso buco or a cheese board.
