Brokenwood Oakey Creek Vineyard Semillon 2024

Brokenwood Oakey Creek Vineyard Semillon is a single-vineyard Hunter Valley Semillon released with a little age to show its developing character.

Semillon is the great white grape of the Hunter, and Brokenwood has made it a specialty since its early days at Pokolbin. This wine comes from the Oakey Creek Vineyard and is made in the classic Hunter manner, then held back so it is released at around 21 months of age. At that point it still has a luminous pale green colour with pale yellow tints and a fragrant nose of lemongrass and orange blossom, typical of young Hunter Semillon. The palate has beautiful fruit weight and Tahitian lime flavour, lifted by a juicy line of acidity that keeps it lingering.

Serve well chilled with freshly shucked oysters, whole baked snapper or a platter of Vietnamese rice paper rolls. Drinking well now, it will build further complexity with time in the cellar.
