Brokenwood Wade Block 2 Shiraz 2022

Brokenwood Wade Block 2 Shiraz is a rich, full-bodied Shiraz from a single block in McLaren Vale.

South Australia's McLaren Vale gives this wine its deep colour and generous style, a world away from the medium-weight Shiraz the company grows at Pokolbin. Picked from one specific block and bottled separately, it highlights the power the region brings to the grape, with sea breezes helping to keep the fruit in balance. The 2022 has the deep purple hues typical of the Vale, with abundant black fruit, dark chocolate and Turkish delight. Fine French oak lends a vanilla note, and the tannins are mouth-coating yet polished, leading into a long, layered finish.

This is one for the barbecue or a winter roast. Serve at around 18 degrees with smoked brisket, lamb ribs or a rich mushroom cottage pie, and give it time to open up in the glass.
