Description
Ca' d'Gal Lumine is a lightly sparkling Moscato d'Asti from organically managed vines in Santo Stefano Belbo.
Moscato d'Asti is made in Piedmont from Moscato Bianco, the variety known in France as Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, and is bottled at low alcohol with a gentle frizzante sparkle and its natural sweetness intact. Santo Stefano Belbo has long been recognised as one of the appellation's finest communes, its steep chalky slopes tempering the grape's heady fruit with freshness and mineral energy. Sandro Boido's vines at Ca' d'Gal grow in an amphitheatre of sandy, chalky slopes circling the winery, are hand-tended and organically managed, and average around thirty years of age. Lumine is the entry wine in the range, but it is made from the same terroir as the estate's older-vine bottlings and shows the perfume and chalky, sorbet-like freshness the commune is known for. The name means to illuminate.
Drink young and well chilled, with fruit tarts, panettone or fresh peaches, or on its own before a meal. Serve at 8-10°C.
