Description
Camille Giroud Bourgogne Aligoté is a crisp, dry white Burgundy made entirely from Aligoté.
Founded in Beaune in the nineteenth century, the house was long known for holding its wines back for extended ageing. New owners in the early 2000s turned it into a modern boutique négociant and domaine, buying fruit from growers across the Côte d'Or, farming its own parcels and taking a lighter hand in the cellar. Burgundy's other white grape ripens later and is more acidic than Chardonnay, and it's taken seriously here: whole-bunch pressing, native yeasts and lees ageing in mostly neutral vessels keep its cut and drive.
Lean and citrusy, with a chalky finish. It's good as an aperitif at 8–10°C, or with oysters and shellfish, goat's cheese, or jambon persillé, the classic Burgundian match.
