Camille Giroud Gevrey-Chambertin in half bottle brings the village appellation down to a two-glass format.

Gevrey is the biggest commune in the Côte de Nuits and its reds carry more flesh and grip than most. The Beaune house buys fruit under long contracts and handles it plainly: sorted twice, de-stemmed, fermented on indigenous yeast in open vats, then raised in wood with a small proportion of new barrels. Smaller bottles mature faster, so this one drinks sooner.

Dark cherry, cured meat and a dusting of pepper sit above sturdy but polished tannin. Serve at 16°C with steak frites, a mushroom pie or hard sheep's cheese.
