Camille Giroud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Godelles comes from a walled vineyard dating back to Napoleonic times that no longer appears on modern maps.

The plot is registered under the name Le Village, which explains why so few people have heard of it, and output runs to a handful of barrels in most seasons. Fruit crosses a vibrating table then a belt, is de-stemmed, and ferments on the yeasts it arrives with; bottling happens without fining once its time in wood is done.

Perfumed and creamy, offering violets, blueberry and a sweet core of red fruit behind soft tannin. Serve at 16°C with roast duck, veal or a dish of braised endive and ham.
