Cantina D'Arcy Langhe Nebbiolo 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Cantina D'Arcy's Langhe Nebbiolo is an Australian winemaker's Piedmontese red, blended from three vineyards across Monforte d'Alba and La Morra.

Langhe Nebbiolo DOC is the broad appellation that sits beneath Barolo and Barbaresco, taking in declassified cru fruit and dedicated younger plantings alike. Tom Myers draws on three sites: Perno in Monforte d'Alba, Castagni in La Morra, and Bricco San Pietro, an MGA lying east of the Monforte township. The cuvée was mostly destemmed with around 20% retained as whole bunches, and fermented on natural yeasts with measured time on skins and deliberately restrained extraction. Maturation ran 11 months in concrete followed by nine months in large cask, an approach that protects aroma rather than building tannin. Myers has been open about his debt to fine Burgundy, and that shows in the emphasis on perfume, transparency and fine-grained texture over weight, giving a Langhe Nebbiolo that does not follow the regional template.

Approachable on release and good for six to eight years. Serve at 16–18°C with duck, mushroom pasta or a young Toma.
