Cantina D'Arcy Vino Rosso 'Pre' 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Vino Rosso 'Pre' is a single-cru Nebbiolo from the Preda vineyard in Barolo, deliberately released outside the DOCG.

Preda is a cru in the commune of Barolo itself, set between Cannubi and Vignane at the end of the Bussia valley. Tom Myers farms a parcel high on the hill with an east-facing exposure, where thin Sant'Agata marls carry a high proportion of active lime—a combination that pushes Nebbiolo towards fineness, perfume and mineral drive rather than mass. His winemaking has followed the site: 60 to 70% whole bunches, only 14 days on skins and very gentle extraction, with most of the wine matured in large-format oak and a small portion kept entirely in tank. Because Barolo DOCG requires 18 months in wood and Myers was unwilling to age the whole blend that way, he chose to declassify the wine rather than change how he made it. The fruit and the site are unchanged; only the label is.

Drinkable now with air and worth cellaring ten years or more. Serve at 16–18°C with braised beef, truffle pasta or aged Parmigiano.
