Cantina Del Pino Barbaresco 'Albesani' 2021

Cantina Del Pino Barbaresco 'Albesani' is a single-cru Nebbiolo from Neive, medium-bodied but firmly structured.

Renato Vacca runs the estate from the family house on the Ovello hill. His great-uncle, Domizio Cavazza, founded the village's original co-operative and is usually credited with establishing Barbaresco as a wine in its own right. This cru lies in neighbouring Neive on calcareous marl and gives perfume and finesse more than weight. Farming is sustainable and low-intervention, and after an extended fermentation on skins the wine goes into large oak casks in the traditional Langhe manner, then rests for a long time before release.

Rose, tar and red cherry over drying tannin. Decant it or cellar it, then serve at 17–18°C with braised beef, mushroom risotto or aged cheese.
