Cascina Penna-Currado Timorasso Derthona E.P. 2023

Cascina Penna-Currado Derthona is a Timorasso from the Colli Tortonesi in eastern Piedmont.

Timorasso had nearly disappeared by the late twentieth century before growers around Tortona revived it, and Derthona, the Roman name for the town, is now used for the wines. It gives a firm, textural white with real capacity to age, quite unlike the lighter Cortese grown nearby. The hills here are clay and limestone at moderate altitude.

Serve at 11 degrees with rich fish dishes, veal or aged cheese. It develops over six to eight years.
